dawning of a new ice age?

...another disappointing day weather-wise, but at least it never rained too hard and the wind didn't blow too much!

Living in Swanage means I am absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to finding subjects for a quick blip. Durlston Castle has been completely transformed over the past eight years and is rich in interest as well as being set in a stunning location. The main theme for the new museum and visitor centre is evolution, to fit in with it being an important part of the Heritage Jurassic Coast. All around the castle, are interesting poems and inscriptions that have been embedded into the landscaping.

The strange weather, that we seem to be experiencing this year, might lead one to question the existence of global warming. One man who, in 1980, famously raised exactly that question with the words "the much-advertised heating of the earth by the man-made carbon-dioxide 'greenhouse' [will fail] to occur; instead, there [will be] renewed concern about cooling and an impending ice age" is Nigel Calder. As a science writer and writer for New Scientist magazine, he has written much on the subject of evolution and the universe, including those that have been carved into this beautiful piece of sandstone and set into this lovely dry stone wall...
