Boys will be boys

School holidays and warm days mean children are drawn inexorably to water. Cycling over the viaduct that carries the Forth and Clyde Canal across the River Kelvin I stopped to look downriver to the defunct pillars that used to support a railway bridge on which herons can often be seen. Instead of bird life there were kids playing around the weir where the water level drops abruptly. I imagine their mothers would have had a fit if they knew they were on the very edge of the drop.
