Sudeley Castle
For anyone interested in gardening and/or history, then get yourselves along to Sudeley Castle. It has the most amazing grounds and is steeped in history, especially the Tudors.
Katherine Parr, Henry Vlll's sixth wife is buried there and is apparently the only Queen of England to be buried in a private home in the UK. There is a fragment of one of her gowns and some of the most incredible artifacts from the Roman period too. I particularly liked the less formal gardens and the way that the derelict buildings had been used as backdrops for the flower borders.
On our way home we got soaked to the skin because we made a last minute decision to visit the Long Barrow at Belas Knap. We had been before but it was many years ago and Mr E couldn't remember it.
We got home just in time for a quick shower and change of clothes, then had to leave for Oxford as we were going to see the musical The Producers. I went with an open mind and came back with tears streaming down my cheeks. I've not laughed that much in ages :-)
