The Season of Day Lilies

Dear Diary,

Each week of the gardening season pushes another flower into the spot light.  It is now the day lilies time to shine!  They are bursting with color and they just make you happy to see them.

The cat mint too is offering a lovely blue contrast to all the yellow and orange and contrast in the garden, as I suppose it is in life, is very important.  Having everything the same and unchanging would be horrible I think.  If you asked a New Englander why they live here I suspect they would inevitably say, "The change of seasons."

There is always something to love in each season.  There is also something that vexes us as well.  Contrast again.  Too much of a good thing is not a good thing.  We thrive on change and challenge.  But for some, change is unnerving and disquieting.  A wise person once said:  "The only one who likes change is a wet baby!"  Maybe that's true.

Celebrating each day, whatever it brings, is what I try to do and right now I'm singing the praises of day lilies!
