On Some Days

Cairo . . .

is Mike and Rebecca's dog.  We had taken her and us for a walk around the block.  Our trip from Rotorua started out in heavy rain and but the conditions improved and it was an uneventful trip.  We had a cup of tea with our son Sam in Wellington at around midnight and then lined up for the ferry.  There were not many cars or trucks for the crossing at 2.30am.  It takes three hours to cross Cook Strait and we could barely feel the movement of the boat.  I had a doze but Ed had a good sleep.  We then set off and had breakfast in Kaikoura.  That made us feel more alive and we enjoyed the drive through to Christchurch.  They need more places for pulling off the main road to take pictures.  Off to my nephew's house to watch the rugby tonight.
