Aaargh!

An escapee from the Wickerman Festival, perhaps.

This sweet chestnut at the Botanics looks fairly awful just now. According to the information board, they are trying to save the specimen, one of the oldest trees in the garden. They've used something called an 'air-spade' (i think) to give the root system a chance to regenerate, and taken off the die-back.

Fingers crossed, say I.
