Bridgewater canal in Lymm

Sunday
Late afternoon we went for a walk with Janet and John round the attractive village of Lymm, where Janet had lived at one point. We walked along the stretch of water known as the Dam, seeing a heron and a cormorant, then through a little wooded area and out into the village. There was a bit of excitement at one point where two guys were trying to rescue a little duckling, which had got swept down this little stepped weir across the water, and couldn't get back to its mother, who was quacking constantly, calling to her baby. after a few minutes some other people arrived with a couple of large fishing nets, and after a while they were able to capture it and return it to its mother, to the applause of the watching crowd! We then continued to the Bridgewater canal, where my blip was taken. There was a transportation event taking place in the village that afternoon - we had seen a few old cars driving through the village, and across from the canal, in a car park, there were about half a dozen old traction engines, and as we were looking around, they began to set off, one at a time. Some of them seemed to need a bit of coaxing to get going, but eventually they all got going. As we continued our walk around the village and back to the car, we came across a couple of them again, rumbling their way along the streets.
