Surprise!

It’s my dad’s birthday today so I phoned my parents this morning for a chat and my usual jolly, if not completely operatic, rendition of "Happy Birthday".  My recent health issue stopped me from going out, so unfortunately I didn’t manage to get my dad a card in time and with us being on opposite sides of the Atlantic, this delays the whole process even further.  When I was apologizing for the fact that my card would be ultra-late, he said, “Well I enjoy the surprise and it wouldn’t be a surprise if I got it on my birthday would it!”  I can see why "there’s always a bright side" is something I enjoy so much!   I do hope a birthday blip will make up for a lack of a card.  Happy birthday, Dad! x
