The red Thread ....

.... always makes me think of Ariadne and the red thread she gave Theseus to help him find his way out of the Labyrinth.  Interestingly I've just discovered that in Chinese and Japanese myth the gods tie an invisible red cord around the ankles or little fingers of those who are destined to meet one another. Two people connected by the (unfortunately invisible) red thread are destined to become lovers or soulmates, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. Sadly, it didn't work for poor Ariadne as the ungrateful Theseus left her stranded on an island.

I've been shooting around in the mizzle today - first to Schull where the extra image was taken and then to Bantry where the main pic was taken. Both are candidates for youoregon1's Abstract Thursday challenge.
