Time....

Very proud of our youngest tonight.
After her school entered the Buxton Poetry Competition Niamh was awarded the Highly Commended Prize in the children's category.
She was invited down to the Devonshire Dome in Buxton for the prize-giving and to read her poem, which she did with aplomb!

Time by Niamh (age 10)

Time, if only it was slower,
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
Just when you want it to slow right down,
When you get told you've got weeks,
Weeks to take your last wheezy breaths, last fun,
Staring at the clock wishing it would slow,
So that days feel like months, months feel like years,
Pretending to have the time of your life,
But really every second is torture,
The last few days are the worst,
Tearful, sad and lots of hugs,
Not mentioning the tumour at all,
But now you have to say goodbye,
To the world around you,
Time...if only it was slower,
Tick-tock, tick...

And then she discovered she had passed her cello exam with Merit - a good day for the "bairn"!
