Playing truant

We've had a great first whole day in Cornwall, even the big Supermarket sweep first thing in the morning was pleasant and we stocked our larder well up for the next few days.  After lunch in the garden we ventured in search of a local Nature Reserve, found it but couldn't find anywhere to park so I asked a friendly house owner adjacent to the Reserve if there was anywhere to park nearby apart from on a very narrow road;  he said not,  but he let us park in his drive and also let us share the magnificent lake and gardens which he and his wife had created - aren't some people just incredibly generous and kind.  He brought some duck food out and we fed the young family of Mallard and also this brave and very amusing little Moorhen who was playing truant from his anxious Mum by running across the water lilies to get the food we offered and not going back to her even though she was calling to him in earnest!

I have added  extra photos ('cos I can't do the link to Flickr??)  :  some of the gorgeous water lilies in the lake, a Chaffinch and  hungry young squirrel at the Farmhouse,  and the Cauliflower Planting machine which we followed up the narrow lane from the Farmhouse.
