Clachnaharry under stormy skies

We took David to work and then went to Mitchells Bike shop to pick up Davids' new motorbike helmet. We took lunch with us so drove down to Clachnaharry at the mouth of the Caledonian canal to sit and eat it. The tide was out and the sky was heavy looking like a down pour was likely to hit us at any minute. Fortunately it stayed dry and I enjoyed wandering around taking photos. Two dolphins were fishing in the Firth. A member of British waterways seemed to be testing the water.
Many boats enter and leave here and it would be a good place to sit and just watch the world go by. Quite often the tall ships are seen here including the ones I've blipped recently that were on their way to Belfast for the race.
I've always liked the name Clachnaharry , some say it comes from the Gaelic Clach na Faire meaning 'watchman's stone' where nearby rocks were used as a lookout point to warn the people of Inverness of any approaching Marauders. Others say the name comes from ' Clach na h-Aithrigh meaning Stone of Repentance. A stone marks the spot of a battle in 1434 between the Munros and MacKintoshes  over passage money for Munro.

Now nervously watching the Murray/Federer match. Come on Andy !
