A piece of History

A friend recently gave me a handful of silver plated cutlery to make up something interesting. This morning I came across a special piece. Weighing in at 73.8 grams it was sterling silver fork made by PW in the year T. Philip Weekes was a silversmith who worked at no.9 St Mary's Abbey in Dublin from 1916 and in 1839 he moved to 22 Eustace Street where he continued his business and made the fork in his first year Eustace Street.

Today I turned it into a bangle which I'll pass back to my friend. It is better than seeing it lie, unused, in a drawer somewhere.....just saying
