Lyveden New Bield

Went on an 11 mile walk today, following the Lyveden Way in Northampton. It's only supposed to be 9.5, but we got a bit lost and a bit wet.

Lyveden New Bield, was being built for Sir Thomas Tresham in 1605. It's not known whether it was to be a summer house or a secret house, as it was only a mile from the Manor House.

Sir Thomas Tresham died in 1605, and the house was never finished, and remains as it was in 1605.

It's owned by the National Trust. It looks very dramatic on the landscape.
