For the last three years, my family has joined a bunch of other families for a weekend of camping by the lake. 

This year we were dumbfounded by the water level. 

It was a dry winter and spring. The entire west coast is in dire need of water. But it took seeing this, for it to sink in for me.

The receding water made way for luscious grass to surround the little dock. While it’s sobering to see the water line so low, the effect is the definition of bucolic. 

A beautiful byproduct of a sad situation.
