Slate Caverns

The zip wire was postponed today due to some pretty horrendous weather, so Beth and I tacked the Llechwedd Slate Caverns. It is an incredible place with a lot of history, and gives an understanding of what it was like to be a slate miner in the 18th Century. Basically extremely hard with a life expectancy of around 45. They worked in the caverns from the age of about 12 and most of the time were in pitch black working for an absolute pittance.
The visit was interesting, the only disappointing thing was that you were rushed around. I would have liked to be able to set up the tripod and take some good shots, but you weren't allowed time, so only a few pics have come out.
Zip wire rescheduled for Wednesday, so hopefully will have more to tell then!
