Twisty Trunk

We went to Fountains Abbey / Studley Royal today. We took some lunch with us and as it was lunch time when we arrived we sat down straight away - just as it began to rain! It wasn't particularly heavy but enough to dampen everything. We had the dogs with us and so we weren't pestered by the birds - but as soon as we stood up to go they descended noisily. We hadn't left anything - if we had dropped anything the dogs would have hoovered up anyway.

The rain stopped as we finished lunch and it turned into a pleasant afternoon. We walked along to the Abbey and had a cup of tea at the little kiosk, then walked back, taking the 'High Ride' back. Its quite a climb and a descent through a dark tunnel! Along the path there we came across this old twisted tree trunk (or it maybe several trunks grafted together). I liked the patterns and textures in the wood.
