Peahen

Cantaloupe Island

.. by Herbie Hancock, who also wrote Watermelon Man (bit of a melon thing going on there). It's the sixth piece that I can now play by heart, more or less. The next step after learning the head is committing the chord changes to memory (both brain and muscle). That's going to take a while longer. It is fascinating how a blues, ballad, bossa, whatever condenses down to something as pure and as baffling as a line of algebra. The book is a blue suede covered address book, with alphabetical index tabs. Because honestly, that blue suede cover was begging for some blues. I'm sure Elvis would understand.

Thank you for all your comments, stars and hearts yesterday. I still can't quite believe that it's been a year already.
