Would you buy a used car off this man?

Back in the late 60's I was selling newspaper advertising to the motor trade and I've tried to replicate the sort of scenes I remember from those days.  Most of the dealers I dealt with were good people though I can think of one who was shot, another committed suicide and one - who I liked quite a lot - ended up in Durham Jail for tax evasion - quite a bit of it. I recall he loaned me an Austin 1100 car for my honeymoon.   I have no reason to believe that the owner of this (fiction) Port Appin garage would be different to many of those I was acquainted with - mainly likeable rogues.
