Ancient Copper Mines on Anglesey

Around 4000 years ago, Parys Mountain, at Mynydd Parys, near Almwch, began revealing its hidden treasure to Bronze Age inhabitants. Copper ingots discovered here and elsewhere in Anglesey suggest that the Romans too capitalised on the mountain's mineral wealth. Large scale mining resumed in the 1770s, managed by Thomas Williams - the 'Copper King'.

The vivid colour was just amazing and I thought these red valerian flowers were mutually enhancing. Another fab day on the trail of the Ancient Romans!
