Virgen del Carmen

Fiesta today.

While Al is at 'Grumpy Old Men' tonight, I went down to the Marina to watch the procession.

The Virgin and Child are taken from the church after Mass and paraded through the Marina, preceded by a couple of men letting off hand held rockets into the sky.   It is then loaded onto one of the work boats from the Yard and taken out to sea accompanied by a small flotilla of decorated boats of varying sizes.

During the previous week, Queens and Princesses have been chosen, there are various activities for children; swimming races in the harbour over the weekend coming etc.

A celebration of the sea and the fishermen, to bless them for the coming year.

Lots of people milling about dressed in their finery, eating, drinking and enjoying themselves.

This will take place all over Spain at various Marinas.
