Tara

Her name was Tara - although she did have a posher name, Grahamston Zinnia.   She was the family dog from 1975 until the late 80's.

She was strong-charactered, but a lovely dog.  Her successor was equally lovely; Dane (being a male) was much more of a push-over.

Tara's main feature was her appetite.    The vet used to have a favourite expression to write on the notes after one of her visits - "dietary indiscretion."

I always used to say that the day that Tara wasn't ready for her meal would be the day that she died.   And so it proved.
