Driverless parking

Today I had a spooky look at the near future. In a car park in Amsterdam, we watched while a driverless electric Volkswagen Golf drove itself around past other vehicles and manoeuvred itself neatly into a parking bay, where a robot expertly inserted a cable into the car's charging point to top up its battery pack.

What a time-saver it would be if we could just turn up at an airport or shopping centre and leave the car to find its own parking space!

Scary, though. It's enough to make us humans feel obsolete.
