The Elms

Stayed in Worcestershire last night after a great day of spectating at the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb. We were at this Queen Anne manor house, built in 1710, now a hotel and spa. It was originally designed by Thomas White, a pupil of Sir Christopher Wren.

We had dinner last night with Hans-Joachim Stuck, who is Austrian and at 6ft 4ins is unusually tall for a racing driver. He told us all about the strenuous physical effort of driving an Auto Union, one of the first rear-engined racing car, that I blipped ascending the hillclimb yesterday.
