Christ Church, Kilndown

A short walk to clear the head after the excesses of a party yesterday evening at our house to celebrate Mr P's birthday.  I don't drink a lot of alcohol because I am usually driving but last night, at home ......................... .  I managed 12,000 steps so it was not that short and we found 5 out of the 7 geocaches we looked for. We started and finished at Kilndown village church.

The church was built and endowed mainly by Field Marshal Viscount Beresford, one of Wellington's generals in the Napoleonic Wars, who purchased the nearby Bedgebury Park estate in 1836.This will only be of interest to you if you know Kent and / or  have perhaps visit the splendid  Bedgebury Pinetum  in what was Field Marshall Beresford's estate.

The fancy blue grave in the bottom right is the Beresford family grave.
