Serious Business

One of those days to remind you that truth is stranger than any fiction, that the real characters you meet in this world are more complex and more improbable than any you're likely to meet in a novel. That, I should make clear, has nothing to do with this scene. I was invited to a wedding anniversary celebration this afternoon. The forecast rain never materialised allowing for the obligatory summer barbecue and the arrival of men with tongs. All very serious business indeed. I felt very honoured that my vegetarian needs had been catered for in the form of a couple of melt-in-the-mouth spicy sweet potatoes. The rest of the day was dominated by work - or at least the need to work. I wasn't very productive.
