Halo

A lovely few days with son#1 - much walking, talking, eating, chilling. He has a hectic few weeks coming up so hope is relaxed and ready to go!

I was on airport duty today - an early one - and decided to come home the extra scenic route and got seriously sidetracked. You may not be aware but today is the 30th anniversary of the day that this statue of the BVM was seen to move - by several people!  The news spread and an incredible 100,000 people paid a visit to Ballinspittle to gaze upon the statue. Many people claimed to see something extraordinary including a garda who said he's seen the concrete statue floating. 31 incidents were recorded at this grotto during 1985 but even more bizarrely, the spontaneous movement of statues was recorded at another 30 sites around the country. Terry Wogan was later sent to investigate but this  is how it was reported at the time. Fascinating! She does have an air about her.

Not only does Ballinspittle have a grotto it also has an unexpected and fantastic deli where I refuelled with an enormous and very garlicky sandwich. As if that wasn't enough excitment I then travelled on to see the Kilbrittain whale - it was colossal!

Far too much excitement and I'm now wrecked. Even more excitement on the cards for tomorrow, including taking a ferry to an island to see a play so hope for a serious catch up on friday!
