Agathla Peak

Also called Aghaałą́ in Navajo and El Capitan in Spanish, this 1,500-foot volcanic plug is a landmark just north of my hometown in northern Arizona. I grew up on the Navajo Reservation in the town of Kayenta.

A friend and I went for a quick overnight visit. She had never been, and I wanted to show her my town and Monument Valley. It was really difficult to pick a photo. I also added two extra photos, one that shows off how clear the night sky is there.
