Fred & Andy

Labuan Bajo harbour

This morning we catch our flight to Labuan Bajo which is uneventful. We find somewhere to stay easily and go for a little explore. Its a not very nice port town but with loads of dive shops and, weirdly enough, Italian restaurants. We go into a few dive shops and get some prices and ideas of trips they run. Komodo National Park is well known for its pristine dive sites and sea life due to the strong currents in the area and also, of course, for the Komodo Dragon.

We than come across Flores Diving Centre who are advertising a safari trip on a board outside the shop, We speak to Chiara, the Italian owner and it sounds good. It would essentially be a dive trip but with some trekking so would suit us both. She also said many of the sites are suitable for snorkeling so Fred could snorkel with the boat following her while the others dive. We put our names down for a one or two night safari, leaving in the next couple of days, although she said she needs at least four people for the trip to go ahead so we'll need to pop in tomorrow after she's tried to sell it.

An Italian meal and a glass of red wine (which is something we've not had for a whiile) end our day.
