Cheese making

We stopped at a Nomad's ger today and were invited inside to drink fermented mare's milk, which is stored in a horses skin and mixed daily with a large paddle until ready. Not maybe something I would choose to drink normally, but hey ho - you can't refuse! We also sampled some dried mares cheese, equally fermented!

The main photo depicts the nomad lady (her husband is standing in the background) moulding the slabs of mare's cheese to dry in the sun on the roof of the ger.

Extras show horses at the shore of Ugii lake bathing from the heat of the sun - the temperatures were around 38 degrees - and the sunset over the lake.
