The Swan River

Had lunch with J and visited with G later in the afternoon. Took J home early and on the way back right on sunset I had to take a detour because of some major roadworks and ended up passing the Casino and detouring in behind it to the river walk.

Came across this amazing bronze of the early Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh who was the first foreign explorer to sail up the river and actually named it The Swan back in 1697 because of all the black swans they encountered.

There is a large bronze of a swan nearby and many live swans also which were wonderful to see. It was a perfect time to get a shot of Willem with the sun setting behind him and the city in the distance.

My extra is a beautiful pelican who cruised by to see if I was offering anything and soon moved on to greener pastures when all I did was click click click taking photos! :))
