Asia takes a swim

Asia takes a swim . . .  in the St Lawrence River.
Steve and I were looking at Buzzy's keel up at the bow and Asia just walked right in! She does this sort of thing at home too, but the water is pretty cold here in Canada. I did go in myself yesterday, for the first time in a week, but I report that it is still quite nippy!

We noticed the boat was really leaking and taking in more water than it should for a 55 year old aluminum boat. When Steve turned it over he could see why . . .  see the extra photos. Fortunately Steve has connections with a local metal fabricator, Dave Joy. He used to store Steve's 25ft Sharpie sailboat Nimda for him over the winter. Steve gave him a call and tomorrow we will borrow a trailer and bring Buzzy to his farm to be fixed. I've added one more photo in the extras, it shows buzzy on the borrowed trailer, ready to go, with the help from a cousin & his friends.

We can't have Buzzy sinking at the dock!! Steve learned how to drive motorboats with his dad in this very same boat between the ages of 8-10 years old. He and his brothers could take the boat out then with an adult, and later when they were 12 years old, after passing a test, they were allowed to take it out on their own after getting permission.

Buzzy was once battered in a huge storm in 1997, it was before we were married. That is when Steve banged it out and fixed it himself. While he was at it he painted a big red Canadian Maple Leaf on Buzzy's bow. You can see Asia standing on it here!  Such history in this place, it is wonderful.
