Today's the day ....................... to be treated

After all the excitement of yesterday, it was nice not to have to rush off home today.

All we had to do was get ourselves to Shrewsbury where we were booked into this lovely hotel for the night.  It was our Christmas present last year from son Tim and Melanie - so a very special treat.

This is an area that is steeped in history, the Battle of Shrewsbury being fought in nearby fields in 1403.  The present house here was built in two parts, the timber-framed half in 1524 and the brick part added in 1560.  It has a moat - in which you can just about make out a black swan swimming .........................
