1st prize

Today's the day ............................ to understudy

The main reason for our trip down to Wales this weekend was to attend the 47th Trap Agricultural Show held today. Trap is the little village where Will went to Primary School many, many years ago - so it's a part of the country which is very familiar to him and full of memories of his childhood days.

The village may be small, but the Show is a big attraction - and there are all sorts of things going on throughout the day. There are competitions to judge the best sheep, horses, dogs, vintage tractors, flower arrangements, sponge cakes, vegetables and a whole host of other country skills and crafts. There are events taking place in the main arena and lots to look at in the marquees. There are many awards, silver cups and certificates to be won. The competition is fierce. A President is chosen every year - usually a couple - and their job is to hand out the prizes. This year it was Gareth and Heulwen Jones of Llangadog. Next year it will be William and Sheila Williams of Cumbria.

Yes - a scary thought! So our job today was to watch what was going on, take lots of mental notes - and get ready to do it all again next year .........................
