Home & Away

Finally….Peace!

Today was another work-day for the builders working on my new kitchen.  They were here at 8am and finished installing the base units.  Thankfully, they only worked until lunchtime and won't be coming back until Wednesday, as the plaster has to dry out before the walls can be painted, and only then will the wall units be installed.  We're also waiting for one more unit which was out of stock and will be delivered on Wednesday.

There is that saying about watching paint dry - well, I am busy watching plaster dry and I can tell you it doesn't happen quickly!  I have a painter on standby waiting to come and paint as soon as the plaster is pink instead of brown!

You can see the progress of the kitchen in the Extra photo.  The lighting is not great in these update photos - I only have one lonely bulb hanging from the ceiling. There are two gaps on one side where the fridge and dishwasher will go, and a gap on the other side where the tower unit will go, for the oven and microwave.

It was good to have a quiet afternoon.  It was a pleasant sunny day today and this evening Dolly and I enjoyed one of our favourite walks around the nearby lake.  The fishermen have returned for the start of the season and some of our favourite places to sit and watch the sunset were occupied!   I could hear the muntjac deer barking in the distance.
