Pen-y-ghent

The plan was formed last night that we would try to make the most of this morning’s dry forecast and get up at a decent time to go up Pen-y-ghent.

The deal clincher was hearing it was the quick way up.  (I knew that would work ;-) )

We all slept soundly and, a little bleary eyed, we drove up around the back of Pen-y-ghent.  It was indeed dry from start to finish and although there was a little limping going on, there was barely a complaint.  Luke, after fastening his hoody so tightly around his face you could only see his nose when he got out of the car, warmed up quickly and shot off up the hill.

We all followed and sat on top for a few photos in the shelter of the wall before heading back down to the car.  We had a drive around to Malham (rather irksomely picking up what must have been more than 100 MGs in the Yorkshire Pudding Run coming in the opposite direction on single track lanes) before heading back home for brunch at the Ilkley Cake Boutique, a little snooze and feet up followed by a major feast in the evening, a film and bed.

It’s been another fine day.
