1st Day of build...

So it was up with the larks at 5am this morning, drove into Chorlton to park up the car, tram into the city and in St. Ann’s Square by 7am. All the work we did on Sunday on the terrace of the Post Box Cafe paid off handsomely as all the bits were out of the van and fixed together by 8.30 am. I was delighted.

It was then off to Chorlton Water Park to shovel about two tonnes of bark chippings into the back of Pete’s big, green van to be taken in this evening to fill the beds where the plants go tomorrow. We had to do this with shovels and a wheel barrow. And I thought being a garden designer was all glamour. We had a quick trip to B&Q to pick up some stone chippings and a few other bits. Afternoon free to wander about the city.

As well as the Dig The City Urban Garden Festival, the Jazz Festival was also setting up in Albert Square. On Sunday we are having a flower and jazz mash up day. At moments like this there is no better place to live than Manchester.
