Heads Up!

Focusing too hard on the task at hand can lead to inattention to what's around you -- a broader perspective can be very useful!

My longtime friend A (Endless Weekend) came up for a visit today, and among our favorite places visited was Squalicum Harbor. The vivid, varied floral displays were winding down, but clearly bees and other flying insects were still happily buzzing among the many flowers.

I didn't stay long enough to see if the smaller insect at the lower left bumped the green-eyed beauty from its place on this black-eyed Susan flower -- there were too many others to photograph in this beautiful place, such as the honeybee in today's extra photo.

We've relished having time together to talk about a diverse range of topics, ranging from the distant past to next year's travel plans, and the conversation will continue tomorrow until mid-afternoon, when she returns home.
