Brief Encounter .

I set off today and caught the train as far as Carnforth Station. ( the stop after Lancaster) A delightful place, Carnforth railway station serves the town of Carnforth in Lancashire, England. The building was designed by architect William Tite and was used as a location in the 1945 film Brief Encounter. It is now a functioning station once more .Lord Beeching had it closed along with many other British lines . Thanks to funds activities and belief in the value of heritage the place was reopened and is now the Carnforth Station Heritage Centre .There are steam train events ,the tea rooms are wonderful , Jazz programmes , a museum , shop and much re Sir David Lean . Sitting in the restored cafe one can be Celia Johnson in thought but there were few Trevor Howards. I did meet a very nice gentleman who was Anglo / German and he insisted on being a second David Lean and taking my picture .... A star for 1 second .He also wanted to converse in German as indeed did an elderly man who had heard us . People help make fun.  This is a place well worth a visit. Here is a link .You may be tempted :)
