Under the Bridge

Bristol's docks have long since ceased to exist as a commercial port; nowadays the floating harbour is largely devoted to leisure activities.  The city is however left with the legacy of having once been one of the UKs major ports.  

Part of that legacy is the difficulty inherent in getting from one part of the centre to the other.  Put bluntly, there are a lot of bridges  in Bristol.  If the planning authority had its way there would be many more.

This is a shot taken underneath the winding pedestrian bridge that serves the development of the Temple Quarter of Bristol, and links with Brunel's  Temple Meads train station.  

The bridge has a surface of metal slats.  Disconcertingly they flex and almost bounce underfoot, making quite a noise in the process.  I say disconcertingly, because at approx 65Kg (144 lbs for those not using the metric system)  at the moment I'm not exactly heavy.  You should hear them when some more substantial individuals cross...

I almost blipped the extra - its a very different shot, but it appealed in its own way.
