Tulum, Mexico

Sitting on a night bus en route to Belize from Mexico and we're really looking forward to properly starting our Central America adventure.
We spent two days in Tulum which is a nice enough beach side town that doesn't have the masses of tourists that Cancun and Playa del Carmen have, even though it's only an hour down the road.
We spent our first day visiting Tulum's famous ruins. The ruins themselves aren't as impressive in size as those in Chichen-Itza, however what is impressive is their location, right on the edge of a cliff beside the Caribbean Sea with a backdrop of turquoise water. After a day wandering around the ruins we found a super cheap yet delicious taco and sopa stall which hit the spot and then we went for a drink while watching the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight.
The next day we spent the morning at a local cenote which was much smaller than Ik-Il and we were the only ones there as you needed to walk for 5 minutes through a really cool mangrove forest to find it. We spent the afternoon lying on Tulum's pristine beach, cooling ourselves down with frequent swims before grabbing dinner and hopping on the night bus.
