When morning gilds the skies ..
By the time we sang that hymn in church this morning, it seemed like an ironic example of existential hope rather than anything we had experienced today, as the clouds gathered and the rain began yet again to spatter the windows, but at 6am this is the light that woke me and had me out of bed to unplug my phone and photograph it before that glorious golden glow disappeared.
I'm somewhat obsessed by skies these days; perhaps it's the variation in cloud types that I can see as opposed to the welcome but photographically uninteresting blue of a properly summer sky. When we finally got out in the early evening to walk under a sudden shred of blue that had appeared, I took a good half-dozen sky-and-sea photos.
But I still like this one best ...
