Dick's Pics

Off white

The books tell you that the wood white (yesterday) can be easily confused with the green veined white here. They don't seem so alike to me. We've set ourselves a goal to find and photograph as many native British butterflies as we can. A tall order because we've knocked off the easiest ones and most of the rest will demand quite a bit of travelling and planning to fit in with flight times (that's butterfly flight times). But there are still quite a lot of Surrey-based species to go at.

I'm hoping that in the next couple of weeks we might be able to find an Adonis Blue and, if we're lucky, possibly even a silver-spotted skipper. Soon the season will be over and then we'll have to sit down and plan a campaign for next year.
