VHS

Today's the day .......................... for the last of the Plantagenets

Our collection of VHS tapes went out to the skip today, part of the on-going purge of items excess to requirements.

They had to go to the tip because charity shops won't accept them these days.  This is because nobody (apart from us) has VHS players any more.  I suppose it does make sense because there are so many ways of watching films now that give you far better picture/sound quality - and that you can go straight to the bit you want.

Anyway - as a final doff of the cap to old-fashioned technologies - we sat and watched Olivier's Richard III.  Billed as 'perhaps the finest of Shakespeare's plays that have been made into films' - and featuring 'Britain's best Shakespearian actors' including Ralph Richardson, John Gielgud and of course, Laurence Olivier himself as the hunchback King, it was a majestic film in every sense of the word.

They just don't make them like that any more ..................
