On the alert!

I just couldn't resist this antennae shot of a Black arches moth   Lymantria monacha
I caught in the moth trap last night.
Only the males have such spectacular antennae to detect the pheromones given out by the females, the females have very ordinary antennae. As with a lot of species, it seems that only the males are attracted to light, so I would be unlikely to catch a female - which is a shame.
The Black arches is a southern species, and is a fairly regular visitor to my garden.
I really love their flashy black and white colouring, and wonderful pink furry bodies.
