A Day Worth Recording

Relics

We had the fire extinguishers surveyed today.  I was aware that there were issues with the type of extinguisher that we'd inherited here; powder ones that were all the rage some years back.

Powder is great for putting out fires of all sorts - the downside is that the ability to see and breathe is also put out at the same time.

The blipped relic was one lurking in the basement. Ironically it was the only one with a service record.

From 1965.

We disarmed and emptied it, and will be keeping it as art.

I have to say I was very impressed with the service (and attitude) of the engineer from Herefordshire Fire Protection.  A very pragmatic approach to what we needed and why, supplied there and then, and all then fitted to the wall in the right places.  He was here for hours and it was all part of the service.
