Lapwing

I went out to look for butterflies and ended up with - a lapwing.

Middleton Hall Lakes is a fabulous reserve, and somewhere I have nearly always managed to see Common blues and Small Coppers.  The weather forecast wasn't wonderful but it wasn't supposed to rain until early afternoon and some sun was due.

I had the sun by the glorious wildflower patch and saw a cheeky Comma (extra photo) and some Green Veined Whites. But it became overcast and later rained so that was it for the day.
