Himself Ascending a Staircase ....

I've given Graham a day off today and we headed into Cork for a spot of culture and shopping. First stop the Crawford Gallery where we went to have a look at the  Sean Scully  exhibition, one of the many events celebrating his 70th birthday. Lots of huge abstract paintings, dazzling yet oddly calming, and some smaller earlier paintings and drawings. Here is Himself ascending the staircase up to the top galleries. The walls and handrails are glass and the steps very steep. The loos are also on this level too, so arty and minimalist it's quite hard to find your way in!

Then shopping - strong coffee, knickers and Lush bath bombs. The city was full of swarms of Spaniards and girls in very tight jeans with severely ripped jeans. And almost an incident in Starbucks loo where you first had to press a button and then unlock the door. Someone very helpfully shouted orders on the other side of the door just as I was starting to panic. The stresses of city living.
