Media City

Here is the site of Media City in Salford where I went for a meeting today.
This is what it used to look like.  Manchester Docks/Trafford Park used to be the power house of the North West of England. Massive industrial organisations being fed by raw materials shipped 35 miles up the Manchester Ship Canal to the furthest inland port in the UK.  Returning the finished goods back down the same canal emerging in the River Mersey.

Trafford Park was heavily bombed during the second world war but continued to function and support the war effort very well.

Started to decline in the 60's and 70's but has recently made an amazing revival courtesy of The Peel Group.  Home now to the BBC and ITV and of course, The Lowry Theatre named after our famous northern son - L S Lowry
