Lowering Clouds over the Remarkables Queenstown

The Remarkables is an extremely steep, rugged mountain range, that extends to a height of 2234 metres and that is a prominent part of the quintessential Queenstown landscape. It contains many beautiful features, including the lovely Lake Alta, which nestles right below the steepest peaks, and is accessible through the skifield areas.

I've even camped up at Lake Alta during the winter, when we built snow caves and then went ice climbing during the daytime! The weather started out fine this morning and gradually clagged in, with the clouds getting lower and lower. We were driving home through falling snow this afternoon, on our way back to Arrowtown from Queenstown. This view shows a private road wending its way towards the Remarkables. There was a photo of the Remarkables in my Extras yesterday.
